Lloyd Lawton: A Reflection

Sogkonate Garden Club invites Tiverton Horticulturist Sean Conway to talk about the gardens of noted local Landscape Designer Lloyd Lawton.  Conway will discuss Lawton’s unique style featuring large native stone, a signature plant palette, and specialized pruning techniques that made Lawton’s gardens instantly recognizable and gave them the ability to stand the test of time.

A well known Tiverton resident for nearly eight decades before his death in the 1980s, Lawton operated a Nursery business out of what is now the Mill Pond Shops at Four Corners. Sean Conway owns Lawton’s former home, also in Four Corners and operates his own Landscape Design business from Lloyd’s former office.

Five of Lawton’s gardens were on the popular July 2024 Sogkonate Garden Club tour.

This event will be held at the Little Compton Community Center.
